Guidance on the Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct and its Guidance were updated this year and the new versions apply to bookings made after 1 July.

Much of the core ABTA Guidance is contained in these documents. For example they cover, among other things:

  • General rules plus more specific points on price indications and financial protection wording

Information under the Package Travel Regulations

  • What you need to know, for package holidays and linked travel arrangements

Communicating travel advice

  • Guidance on providing passport, visa, health and Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) advice to clients

Issuing correct documents

  • Confirmations, ATOL Certificates etc.

Cancellations and significant changes

  • What Members need to offer clients, when compensation is due, what is a significant change

  • What to do if you want to be able to surcharge

  • What the law says on the time limits for client refunds

The Code and Guidance are updated as and when necessary, and any revisions are always announced to Members and put on our website.

If you have any queries or comments about the Code please contact the Member and Partner Information line on 020 3117 0597 membersinfo@abta.co.uk.
