6 May 20026There is a lot in the news right now about jet fuel prices, the availability of jet fuel and what this may mean for holidays, following the conflict in the Middle East. Holidays are going aheadWe don’t want people to worry about their upcoming holiday – travel is still going ahead, with holidaymakers getting away as normal. We’re not aware of UK flights being cancelled due to the availability of jet fuel. We are in close contact with airline bodies who have said UK airlines are currently not seeing disruption to jet fuel supply, because the UK sources fuel from a diverse range of places.Some European airlines have been reducing flights to some destinations to save money on fuel, but where they have multiple flights going to the same place on the same day. This is a small proportion of flights when you consider the number that depart each day. UK airlines are operating normally and fuel supplies remain stable. No flights are being cancelled due to fuel shortages and reports to this effect are incorrect. UK regulations protect your holidaysWhile holidays are going ahead as planned, you may find it reassuring to know that, in the unlikely event a flight is cancelled – for whatever reason – there are lots of protections in place for UK travellers. This means you shouldn’t lose out on the money you paid for your flight, and if it’s a package holiday, that extends to the full cost of the package. There is more about your rights here.
