ABTA to hold new sales training day in December tailored for travel

Responding to demand from Members, ABTA’s new one-day course has been designed to provide training on sales strategies and skills for sales professionals within travel companies of all sizes. It will take place on 10 December in central London.

ABTA is also pleased to announce that the full day of training will be run by travel and tourism trainer, Gary Grieve. Gary, who is a regular speaker at travel industry events and a serial travel awards judge, has recently led a nationwide series of bespoke training programmes with VisitEngland and has a background of working for multiple ABTA Members.

With travel companies turning to digital channels, including social media, to enhance their sales strategies, attendees can use the day to refresh their existing skills and get inspiration for new techniques to take back to the office.

The day will start with a recap on typical customer journeys and ABTA will share its latest findings from research into consumer booking habits.

Attendees will then take part in an interactive session focussing on enhancing their communication skills across web, email, social and phone before hearing from a travel lawyer on the must know legal issues affecting sales, including the requirements under the Package Travel Regulations and GDPR. Experts will be on hand to provide guidance on how to communicate the benefits of ATOL and ABTA financial protection and how this can assist in converting leads.

Other topics in the afternoon will include call handling practical exercises and guidance on closing sales, building customer loyalty and converting leads from social media and online.
