Take off in Travel – helping with Members’ recruitment challenges

Post pandemic, recruiting new and retaining existing staff remains a challenge for some Members. We are continuing our efforts to help Members with a range of initiatives, including our partnership with Travel Weekly and its ‘Take off in Travel’ campaign which launched last week. Take Off in Travel is a comprehensive guide for careers in the travel industry developed by Travel Weekly and supported by ABTA and Hays Travel.

Many Members are looking outside their normal sources for new staff, and students are an exceptionally enthusiastic and knowledgeable resource. ABTA has 15 Education Partners (universities and colleges) around the country. We provide training and speakers to excite students’ interest in all the opportunities offered by a career in travel.

We’ve also developed a number of colourful and inspiring adverts which we share across our social media. These are also available for Members to share on your own channels, through the Marketing toolkit in the Member Zone.

Of course, assembling a great workforce is not just about recruitment, but retention too. High quality, ambitious staff will always be looking at ways they can develop their skills and knowledge and we have a wide range of informative training modules on our website which are available, free of charge, to ABTA Members and their staff.
