Brexit tops the Government’s agenda

Brexit has been the main focus for the first week of this new Government, as the Prime Minister and his Cabinet look to revisit the proposed deal for when the UK leaves the EU on 31 October, as well as stepping up no-deal preparations.

It is clear that leaving the EU without a deal remains a very real possibility, so it is important Members continue to plan and prepare. To support Members in their preparations we have updated our contingency planning document, updates are indicated in the contents section of the paper, and include the latest information on driving abroad and air transit visas. Our advice to consumers has also been updated on abta.com/Brexit.

It was reported earlier in the week that the Government plans to run a £100million advertising campaign informing the public about a no-deal Brexit. We are seeking further information from Government Ministers and departments about the campaign and communication plans in the run-up to 31 October.

We are also continuing with our activities to engage with the new Cabinet and departmental Ministers, and Members may be interested to read our new public affairs briefing, which gives an overview of the new Cabinet. This can be found in the Member Zone.
