Registration reminder for ABTA’s 2019 Travel Convention

Registration reminder for ABTA’s 2019 Travel Convention

Standard registration fee ends on July 31st

ABTA is encouraging delegates for this year’s Travel Convention to book their place by 31st July, as the registration fee will increase after that date. Delegates can register via The Travel Convention website, with fees for ABTA Members and Partners currently £665.

This year’s event is taking place from 7 to 9 October 2019 in Tokyo, Japan, and the theme, a ‘Brave New World’, will explore how factors such as globalisation, technology, environmental concerns and increasing competition are influencing holiday choices – and how the industry can adapt to these changes.

ABTA Member delegates wanting to explore Japan’s regions and see more of what the country has to offer, have the opportunity to join JNTO’s complimentary pre and post-Convention tours. The criteria has been expanded meaning there are now a number of ways to be eligible to attend a trip – including posting on social media and issuing a dedicated E-newsletter. Delegates can apply for the limited spaces via the Tours/Excursions section of the website, and are subject to conditions outlined in the application process.

The latest Headline Partner to be announced is Spendology – an online travel currency sales service where companies can use their own branding, control their exchange rates and set their margins – joining Avis Budget Group, Global, The Media & Entertainment Group, InsideJapan Tours and Royal Caribbean International. Telegraph Travel is the Convention’s Lead Partner.

The Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), ANA – All Nippon Airways and Prince Hotels & Resorts are the Host Partners for the Convention.

Mark Tanzer, Chief Executive of ABTA – The Travel Association said:

“I look forward to welcoming delegates to vibrant Tokyo, and would encourage those who haven’t registered yet to take advantage of the standard registration fees over the next month.

“As an innovation leader, Japan has been introducing the world to cutting-edge products and ideas for years, and this year’s Convention offers us the unique chance to be inspired by this new setting, culture and way of thinking.

“As ever, it also offers a fantastic opportunity for the industry to come together to reflect on events and learnings from the past year and to look ahead to the next chapter.”

The full delegate attendee list is available via the Travel Convention website. All delegates will stay at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa, which is centrally located in Tokyo with direct access to Haneda International Airport, Shinkansen (Bullet Train) rail lines and only a few minutes’ walk from Shinagawa Station.

Delegates will be able to travel directly and indirectly to Tokyo from a number of UK airports on services operated by ANA – All Nippon Airways.
