Anti-Slavery Commissioner to speak at ABTA’s second sustainable travel event

The UK’s first independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner will address attendees at ABTA’s second annual Sustainable Travel event in London this summer. Kevin Hyland will explain why the issue of modern slavery is important for tour operators, giving attendees the chance to ask questions surrounding the UK’s response to modern slavery.

Mr Hyland will be joined by other high-level speakers including, Rochelle Turner, Head of Research at the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and Kunera Moore, Global Partnerships Manager, Stronger Together.

Industry speakers include Jamie Sweeting, President of the Planeterra Foundation and Vice President for Social Enterprise at G Adventures and representatives from TUI, Intrepid Travel and Noble Caledonia.

This event follows the success of last year’s inaugural seminar dedicated to tackling sustainable issues in travel companies supply chains. Speakers will address key considerations such as:

  • Child protection
  • Human rights
  • Environmental management including plastics, over tourism, water and carbon management
  • Animal welfare.

Attend to hear practical and innovative guidance on how to implement sustainable approaches across travel business. Attendees will address key risks to supply chains and understand how to work with suppliers to ensure that local communities benefit from, and are enhanced by, tourism.

ABTA’s Delivering Sustainable Travel seminar will be held in London on 26 June. To find out more, view the agenda and register, visit abta.com.
