ABTA encourages delegates to take advantage of early bird rates for this year’s Travel Convention

Delegates for this year’s Travel Convention are encouraged to take advantage of the early booking offer, which ends on Wednesday 24 May. Registration fees for ABTA Members and Partners are currently £495, this will increase to £585 from Thursday 25 May.

ITV’s Chris Ship will return to moderate this year’s Convention which will focus on ‘The Next Chapter’ looking at the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead following global political upheaval and volatile economic conditions in recent months.

Arnold Donald, President & Chief Executive Officer of Carnival Corporation & PLC has also been confirmed as a speaker. He will share his thoughts on the future of cruise, exploring trends in the sector and offering his opinions on the industry. Dr Paul Redmond, an expert on generational theory and the graduate labour market, will share his views on how the Millennial generation will bring something different to the workplace, and what it will take to lead the employees of tomorrow.

The beautiful Azores Islands will host this year’s Convention. The Convention will be held on the island of São Miguel and delegates will have the opportunity to explore and experience some of the island’s highlights including the Lagoa do Fogo and the Sete Ciades, as well as a chance to go whale watching.

Azores Airlines will provide delegates with special return airfares from London Gatwick airport. There are also daily flights to the Azores via Lisbon for delegates who prefer to travel via the Portuguese capital.

The event will be hosted by The Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism agencies (APAVT) and the Regional Government of the Azores.

Mark Tanzer, ABTA Chief Executive commented: “I would encourage delegates to take advantage of the Early Bird fees and join us in the stunning Azores Islands for this year’s Convention. With the upcoming General Election adding political instability to an already a volatile global picture, it is important for the industry to come together to reflect on events and to look ahead to the next chapter.”
