The loss of life and destruction caused by the terrible earthquake in Morocco over the weekend have caused much shock and sadness across the travel industry. Our thoughts go out to all of ABTA’s friends there and to everyone affected by the earthquake. 

We had the privilege of holding ABTA’s Travel Convention in Marrakech last October, a reflection on Morocco’s growing popularity as a destination. It was a great celebration of an amazing country and a very welcoming destination.

I have been in touch with the Moroccan National Tourist Office this week to offer our condolences and support. In times like this we know members may also be looking at ways to offer their support to Morocco. The Disasters Emergency Committee has information on its website and Intrepid is running its own campaign.
