Supporting customers to have a fun and safe holiday

Ahead of the main holiday period, we’ve been developing up-to-date, helpful advice available for customers to help them plan and prepare for their holidays. In particular we’ve been focusing on health, safety and security, to help holidaymakers stay safe while away.

We have updated all our online health and safety advice pages, which can be found at www.abta.com/tips-and-advice/staying-safe-on-holiday. They cover everything you need to know about staying safe on holiday including balcony safety, booking excursions and checking the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office advice. There is specific guidance for young holidaymakers – with the aim to support people going on their first trip without their family.

Last year there was a high number of incidents of people getting into difficulty in the water, both in the UK and abroad.  So, we’ll have a big focus on staying safe in the water over the coming weeks and months. We’re doing this by sharing our swim safety advice across our social media channels, using the hashtag #WaterWise. This will be supported by advertising on Facebook over the May half-term. We’ll also be sharing lots of tips from water safety experts.

As well as our online advice we also have our ‘Have a safe and healthy holiday’ leaflets which are available to download or be can be added as a link in your customer communications, with mobile and print friendly versions also available. We’re encouraging members to share our health, safety and security advice with customers ahead of their holiday to help people have a fun and safe trip.
