Travelife achieves Highly Commended in the WTM Responsible Tourism Awards

Travelife for Accommodation, the international sustainability certification programme owned by ABTA, was recognised for the extensive work it has done to support a responsible COVID-19 recovery in the accommodation sector.

Travelife was one of just 21 organisations to win Highly Commended out of 250 entries. This was in recognition of a range of multi-lingual COVID-19 sustainability support materials they released in July that were specifically aimed at helping hotels keep up their important work during the pandemic, even when they are closed, and these materials were made available free of charge to any accommodation provider, anywhere in the world. This included a detailed COVID-19 Operational Guidance Kit that covered how to minimise the environmental impacts of virus prevention measures whilst ensuring health and safety remained the top priority.

Travelife addressed other issues that were identified in a COVID-19 hotel survey they conducted in June that looked at the impacts of the pandemic on accommodation sustainability. This included rising concern about the welfare of staff and the impact on local communities along with animal welfare.

Travelife also released support materials covering guest communications and an electronic flyer especially for travellers. You can view all of Travelife’s coronavirus support resources at https://travelifestaybetter.com/covid-19/.

Travelife also has a travel trade membership product that helps travel companies manage sustainability in their accommodation supply chain. This is free for ABTA Members and more information can be found here.
