Travelling to Egypt

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office updated its travel advice to Egypt on Wednesday 19 February advising against all but essential travel the Governorates of Beni Suef, Minya, Asyut and Sohag and the Governorate of South Sinai, with the exception of the area within the Sharm el Sheikh perimeter barrier, which includes the airport and the areas of Sharm el Maya, Hadaba, Naama Bay, Sharks Bay and Nabq which remain unaffected and open for business.

This change in advice will impact holidays to the resorts of Taba and Dahab and holidaymakers with an imminent departure to these resorts should contact their travel provider for further information.

Holidaymakers booked with ABTA tour operators on packages travelling imminently, will be offered the options of deferring their date of travel, travelling to another resort in Egypt, an alternative destination or a full refund.

ABTA Members will continue to monitor the situation and make appropriate arrangements for as long as this advice remains in place.
