The Canadian-founded integrated international tour operator Transat A.T. Inc has subscribed their outbound Canadian and French business units: Transat Tours Canada (Transat Holidays and Nolitours) Look Voyages and Vacances Transat (France) to the Travelife Sustainability System, a practical tool for hotels and tour operators to monitor and manage their social and environmental impacts.

Sören Stöber, Travelife’s Business Manager said: “We are delighted that another international tour operator is committed to sustainability and is using the Travelife system to promote the achievements of the hotels they use.”

Holiday properties subscribed to Travelife are inspected by an independent auditor and depending on their performance may achieve Travelife Bronze, Silver and Gold awards which can then be displayed in the hotel, and in tour operator brochures and websites.

Transat A.T. Inc. is an integrated international tour operator with more than 60 destination countries. A holiday specialist, Transat operates mainly in Canada and Europe, as well as in the Caribbean, Mexico and the Mediterranean Basin. Montreal-based Transat is also active in air transportation, accommodation, destination services and distribution.

The Travelife Sustainability System is wholly owned by ABTA Ltd, the UK Travel Trade Association.

The Travelife Sustainability System provides all kinds of help and guidance to holiday properties and companies on how to be more socially responsible and how to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Tour operators from all over the world now use Travelife Hotels and display the awards in their brochures and on their websites. These operators include the UK household names of: Cosmos Holidays, Kuoni, Sunvil, Co-operative Travel, Thomas Cook, TUI and Virgin Holidays.

Travelife is also used by other international tour operators in Scandinavia, Germany, France, Holland and Canada.

To date 15,000 properties have registered with Travelife, 1,500 have completed a Travelife audit and well over 500 properties have been granted a Travelife award of Bronze, Silver or Gold.
