Registrations open for ABTA’s 2019 Travel Convention
Registration for The Travel Convention is now open, with this year’s event taking place in Tokyo, Japan from 7 to 9 October 2019.
Japan’s capital mixes the ultra-modern in cutting-edge design, fashion and architecture with the ancient legacy of thousands of years of Japanese tradition and culture.
The Convention will be held at the Prince Hotels & Resorts, Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa, which is directly connected to the International Convention Center Pamir, where the business sessions will take place. All delegates will stay at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa, which is centrally located in Tokyo with direct access to Haneda International Airport, Shinkansen (Bullet Train) rail lines and only a few minutes’ walk from Shinagawa Station – one of the largest in Tokyo.
The Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), ANA - All Nippon Airways, which is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its London-Tokyo route this year, and Prince Hotels & Resorts will be the Host Partners for the Convention.
The Travel Convention is happening during the Rugby World Cup, with matches taking place throughout Japan, and the Japanese Grand Prix, which is being held in Suzuka – providing extra opportunities for delegates to explore Japan’s regions and see more of what the country has to offer. The JNTO will be operating a series of complimentary pre and post-Convention tours for ABTA Member delegates to showcase Japan outside of Tokyo. The limited spaces can be applied for via the post-registration confirmation link, and are subject to conditions outlined in the application process.
There are a range of ‘Explore Japan’ Partners offering special pre and post-Convention tours for delegates, all of whom are ABTA Members that operate in Japan. These include Headline Partner InsideJapan Tours as well as Cosmos and Wendy Wu Tours, more details are available on the Convention website. In addition, England Rugby Travel is offering a number of exclusive delegate packages for the Rugby World Cup.
The Telegraph Travel will be the Convention’s Lead Partner for the 13th consecutive year, and Headline Partners include Avis Budget Group, InsideJapan Tours and Royal Caribbean International.
This year, tour operators Gold Medal, Travel 2, Holiday Extras, Cosmos and Royal Caribbean International will be hosting 55 UK travel agents at the Convention – providing an opportunity for agents to hear about the latest developments within the industry and network with colleagues.
The standard registration fee is available to delegates until the end of July. Delegates will be able to travel directly and indirectly to Tokyo from a number of UK airports on services operated by ANA – All Nippon Airways, with direct flights starting from £599.
