Registrations open for ABTA’s 2018 Travel Convention

Registration for The Travel Convention is now open with a discounted Early Bird registration fee available to delegates until the end of June.

This year’s event will take place in Seville from 8-10 October 2018. Ranked as Lonely Planet’s best city in the world to visit in 2018, Seville is rich in history and renowned for its flamenco, tapas bars and architecture.

The Convention will be held at the five star Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento hotel and ABTA delegates will enjoy exclusive use of the hotel, which is located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. Additional accommodation will be available at the nearby Eurostars Torre Sevilla. Opened last year, it occupies the top 13 floors of the Torre Sevilla and is the highest building in Andalusia.

The event will be hosted by Andalucia - Turismo Andaluz; Spanish Tourist Office/Turespaña; Seville Provincial Tourism Board and Seville City Hall.

The Travel Convention takes place over three days and includes plenary sessions and workshop sessions, lunches, evening parties and Convention bars.

The Telegraph will be the Convention lead partner for the 12th consecutive year, and headline partners include Royal Caribbean International and Global Media & Entertainment - which owns brands such as Heart, Classic FM and LBC. AVIS Budget will also be a headline partner, once again complementing their sponsorship by supporting ABTA’s yearly ‘Ride for your Lifeline’, a fundraising bike ride through Seville in aid of ABTA’s charitable trust.

This year, tour operators Gold Medal, Travel 2, Trafalgar and Insight Vacations will also be hosting 30 UK travel agents at the Convention.

A number of airlines operate direct flights from the UK to Seville’s San Pablo airport, and delegates are encouraged to make their flight arrangements as soon as possible to secure the best airfares.

Optional Convention activities include a Golf Tournament at the Club Zaudin Golf Club, the annual Convention Football Match at the Isla Cartuja Sports Facilities and local excursions designed to show what the city has to offer.

Mark Tanzer, ABTA Chief Executive commented:

“We look forward to hosting delegates for a programme of thought-provoking and insightful business sessions and well as networking opportunities amongst travel industry colleagues. Delegates have six weeks to take advantage of the Early Bird fees when registration opens today – and I would encourage them to do so.

“With its combination of incredible history and contemporary art, music, food and fashion, Seville and its surroundings offers travellers a fantastic variety of options. The Convention will provide a great opportunity to remind travel professionals of all that it has to offer.”
