Happy World Tourism Day! It’s just three days to go until the end of this summer’s Make Holidays Greener campaign run by ABTA and Travelife. This year, we’ve focused on saying no to plastic. We’ve been sharing travel industry stories on social media using #MHG18 and encouraging holidaymakers to take action to find an alternative to using plastic on holiday. As well as this, holidaymakers had the opportunity to pick amongst another 14 other pledges to help them think about their environmental and social impacts on holiday – from eating out at local restaurants, buying locally made souvenirs to booking with a Travelife hotel.
We want to thank all ABTA Members for getting involved. We will be sharing an update on how much plastic was avoided as part of the campaign. We have been delighted to see a huge range of industry activities encouraging people to avoid plastic – from taking single use plastic cutlery and bottles out of tour operations to organising beach clean ups.
