Harness the benefits of apprentices for your business

It’s National Apprenticeship Week (9-15 February), providing an excellent opportunity to remind you of this rich source of new talent, and how your own team members can get involved themselves.

Companies can be sometimes wary about taking on an apprentice, concerned it will be difficult to set up and be too time consuming. However, there are training providers who can help through every step of the process and who will also support the apprentice and their company mentor. You can find more information on these, and advice for employing an apprentice on the Government apprenticeship website

Taking an apprentice into your business can be highly rewarding for both parties and makes sound financial sense for all concerned, with the additional benefit of access to Government funding.

The travel industry, including ABTA and several of our members, regularly review the National Occupational Standards which underpin the Travel Consultant Apprenticeship and others relevant to the travel sector. Being involved in shaping the content of apprenticeships ensures they remain fit for purpose.

If you are thinking about taking on an apprentice, speak to ABTA – we can put you in touch with the right people to help. More comprehensive information is available in the abta.com Industry Zone
