18 Jun 2026 Guidance on CMA advertising issues The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (DMCCA) and the CMA’s guidance on it have impacted members’ businesses. In particular:PricingThe DMCCA requires a total price to be provided to consumers, including all charges that they will necessarily incur. The CMA guidance says that this includes “local taxes, resort fees and other unavoidable charges that become payable on arrival or departure at hotels, ports or airports”.The CMA guidance can be found here. There’s also an ABTA guidance note.We have presented on this topic several times on the member video conference call, which can be watched back here.Information to be included in advertsThe DMCCA states that ‘invitations to purchase’ (roughly, wherever you display the characteristics of your product and its price) need to include the name, address and email of anyone on whose behalf you are acting. This clearly affects agents advertising the holidays and travel arrangements of tour operators. If there isn’t space in an advert to include everything, this can be taken into account.ABTA’s guidance on this was featured in the member video conference call on 9 June. Please also see the ABTA guidance note unfair commercial practices, in particular the section “Information that must be included in an invitation to purchase”.If you have any questions, please contact Member Support on membersupport@abta.co.uk or 020 3117 0597.
