The five biggest legal issues for business travel providers in 2018

2018 will see a number of legislative changes including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), new Package Travel Regulations and the new Payment Services Directive (PSDII). As business travel providers, your responsibilities to travelling employees are ever increasing, and the blurring of lines between business and leisure ('bleisure') raises interesting questions regarding your duty of care.

Do you have a good understanding of top five legal issues for business travel?

  1. Package Travel Regulations: are you aware of the potential liabilities you may face under the new legislation? How will the changes specifically affect corporate travel?

  2. The tender process: do you know what key terms should be included? Are you confident in understanding the priorities of the corporate client, as well as your own?

  3. Managing data compliance: have you ensured you are compliant with the new GDPR? What processes do you need to have in place by May 2018?

  4. Duty of care: do you understand the practicalities of the employer’s duty of care and are you aware of the importance of communicating FCO advice to your customers?

  5. Bleisure and shared services: what are your legal responsibilities?
