Do you know a customer service super star?

For the second year ABTA and TTG have teamed up to award an outstanding individual with ABTA’s “Going the Extra Mile Award” at The Travel Brit Awards in June 2013. This award recognises ABTA Members who can demonstrate their commitment to providing exceptional customer service over the past 12 months, going above and beyond, to ensure their customers have great holidays.

Mark Tanzer, Chief Executive, ABTA said: “ABTA's 'Going the Extra Mile' award intends to recognise the passion and the dedication that our Members have to ensure that their customers get the best possible holiday or travel experience. Customer service is at the heart of our industry and we all know someone who has an incredible story to tell and has gone to extraordinary lengths to help a customer. If you know someone - a colleague or peer in the industry - that you think has gone the extra mile to help a customer or to help fellow workers, this is your chance to tell the industry and ensure they get the recognition they deserve.”

What award will the winner receive?

The three short-listed candidates and the winner will be profiled in TTG, and across ABTA’s online and print channels ABTA Today, abta.com and ABTA Magazine. “Going the Extra Mile Award” winner 2012

Linda Dobson of Brant Travel won ABTA’s “Going the Extra Mile” Award in 2012.

Brant Travel Manager Philippa Smith nominated Linda who finds the extra time to escort at least three holiday groups a year looking after all the clients and taking extra special care of single guests and disabled passengers. In 2012, she went the extra mile by inviting a group of 30 passengers on her honeymoon cruise, ensuring her regular customers didn’t miss out on their holiday.

Linda Dobson commented on winning: “It’s lovely to be rewarded and recognised by ABTA and the travel industry for something that I enjoy. I know that some of my clients would not get a holiday if they did not join our group departures and it’s rewarding to get repeat business for the personal service we offer.

"I love taking people away and they really appreciate the fact that we offer the complete group service. Over the years many new friendships have been formed and some of our single travellers now share a room which gets rid of the single supplement. Of course the plus side for me is that I get to see many new destinations both in the United Kingdom and abroad.”
