The FCO updated its travel advice to Kenya on Saturday, 12 July 2014. Please visit the FCO website for full details.

The Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for Kenya, to advise against all but essential travel to Mombasa island and an area in close proximity to Mombasa island.

Approximately 500 customers were travelling in the affected area and have been repatriated. Customers with future bookings will be offered alternative destinations or full refunds long as the advice remains in place.

ABTA strongly advises any British holidaymakers in the area to follow Foreign Office advice and to avoid all but essential travel in the affected areas.

If customers are due to travel to the areas impacted they should contact their tour operator who will advise them about the status of their booking.

Other areas of the country remain unaffected and bookings to these areas can go ahead as planned. Customers should contact their travel providers for further information if required.

ABTA will continue to closely monitor FCO advice and provide updates as appropriate.
