Collaborating to develop new guidance on accessible travel

Travel should be accessible to all. Whether you’re travelling for leisure, business, or to see family and friends, the experience should be as smooth as possible.

Over the past 12 months we’ve brought together a wide range of members and experts to help shape our thinking on accessible travel and look at how we can further develop our existing resources to support members and their customers. The conversations and engagement we have had have offered unique insights into the realities of accessible travel today and have been honest, practical and forward looking.

One result is that, this week, we have launched the new ABTA Accessible and Assisted Travel Guide and Checklist. Unveiled at our Accessible Travel and Tourism event, and designed for customers, the guidance offers clear, practical pointers for anyone with reduced mobility, access needs, a non-visible disability, or neurodiversity. Members are encouraged to share the Guide and Checklist with your customers during the booking process.

In addition to the downloadable guide, we’ve created a dedicated series of webpages at www.abta.com/accessible-travel, providing straightforward information all in one place.

In the coming months, we will also publish new guidance specifically for ABTA members, supporting you in strengthening your own policies, training, and customer communication.
