Changes to Apprenticeships

ABTA has been working with its Members on the development of new professional standards for Travel Consultant Apprentices. The new standards have been developed to fit the changing needs of the industry and cover leisure and business travel. These are available to view here. From April 2017 the way the Government funds apprenticeships in England is changing. Some employers will be required to contribute to a new apprenticeship levy, and there will be changes to the funding for apprenticeship training for all employers. To raise additional funding, the Government is introducing a levy for all employers in the UK with a pay bill of over £3million from 6 April 2017. Employers can claim back this contribution by taking on apprentices who will be funded through the digital apprenticeship service. Employers who are not eligible to pay the levy will also be able to benefit from apprenticeship funding. You can take on a range of apprentices from different disciplines to reflect the needs of your business.

ABTA will be holding an Apprenticeship conference to help our Members understand these changes and the opportunities for taking on apprentices.
