Aviation Minister and new Chief Executive of the CAA to address ABTA’s Travel Matters event

Baroness Sugg, the Transport Minister for Aviation, International and Security and Richard Moriarty, who will take up the Chief Executive post at the CAA from 1 June, are among the speakers at ABTA’s Travel Matters conference in June.

The majority of places at the annual policy conference are by invitation only but, in response to popular demand, ABTA has released a limited number of tickets which are available to buy.

Travel Matters 2018 will take place on the morning of Wednesday 27 June 2018, at One Great George Street in Westminster, London.

This year’s event will take a look at what is on the horizon for travel. The UK is at a critical juncture when decisions by political leaders will have a profound effect on the future of the country and the industry. The conference will explore themes of trust and confidence; in our system of financial protection and regulation; in what transport infrastructure looks like beyond Brexit and, at a fundamental level, in the people who are keeping us informed – the political decision-makers and new and old media.

The conference has an impressive speaker line-up of politicians, top travel industry figures and media commentators including:

  • Baroness Sugg, Transport Minister for Aviation, International and Security
  • Richard Moriarty, Director of Consumers & Markets Group (Chief Executive from 1 June 2018), CAA
  • Surinder Arora, Founder and Chairman, The Arora Group
  • Martin Alcock, Director, Travel Trade Consultancy
  • The Right Honourable Baroness Stowell of Beeston MBE
  • Akira Nakamura, Senior Vice President, EMEA & General Manager London, All Nippon Airways
  • Ayesha Hazarika, Broadcaster, Comedian and Former Political Adviser

Mark Tanzer ABTA Chief Executive said: “There are big political and regulatory decisions looming which will shape the next phase of the travel industry. It is these issues, and many more, which will be explored at Travel Matters, ABTA’s flagship policy conference. The event brings together senior representatives from across the industry with a panel of esteemed speakers, ensuring an interesting and lively debate. We are delighted to open up the event to additional industry representatives by offering ticketed places.”

Travel Matters, headline sponsored by Travel Trade Consultancy and co-sponsored by ANA All Nippon Airways, is an annual policy event for senior representatives from ABTA’s Membership, industry stakeholders, travel and transport media as well as Government departments and bodies.
