ABTA – The Travel Association launches new travel insurance product – ABTA Travel Sure

ABTA – The Travel Association is announcing the launch of a new travel insurance product, ABTA Travel Sure. Based on extensive research into what consumers want from travel insurance, the launch offers customers a high-quality product from a brand they can trust.

Reflecting consumer demand for a high quality and comprehensive travel insurance product, ABTA Travel Sure offers a number of benefits as standard that other insurance providers don’t include, or will charge an optional extra premium for, including missed connections, airline and supplier failures, and gadget cover.

It is initially anticipated that ABTA Travel Sure will appeal to people with existing bookings or rescheduled holiday bookings to countries that are exempt from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s current advice against all but essential travel and require cover for COVID-19 medical expenses whilst on holiday.

Steps have also been taken to make ABTA Travel Sure as consumer friendly as possible, by cutting the policy wording by 50% and ensuring it is straightforward and easy to understand.

With 70 years’ experience in the travel industry, the ABTA brand is associated most strongly with safety, confidence, reassurance, reliability and support1 – the five values that have been consistently linked with the Association for the past 10 years. ABTA, in partnership with AXA, is therefore well placed to offer high quality, comprehensive insurance.

ABTA Travel Sure offers three different levels of cover across both Single Trip and Annual Multi Trip options. All cover levels are 5-star Defaqto rated and there is no upper age limit for single trip cover.

Ian Hall, Head of Travel Insurance at ABTA says, “Insurance has an important role to play in giving people the confidence to book a holiday now travel is restarting, and ABTA Travel Sure will appeal to people who require cover for COVID-19 medical expenses.

“ABTA Travel Sure provides a high quality product at a reasonable price, from a brand consumers can trust. With 5-star Defaqto rated products, consumers can have peace of mind that they are covered in case things don’t go to plan - such as missing a flight, losing luggage or even travel company failure.”

ABTA Travel Sure will be available for consumers to purchase directly online from 15 July 2020 via https://travelsure.abta.com or phone on 0330 128 0957, as well as from ABTA Members.
