ABTA targets MPs with travel and tourism magazine

The thoughts from Transport Minister Theresa Villiers, MP John McDonnell, journalist and former MEP Stanley Johnson, MSP Wendy Alexander and MEP Malcolm Harbour, on why travel matters have been put together in a special House Magazine supplement on travel with opinion pieces from travel professor Harold Goodwin and industry leaders Dermot Blastland and Andy Cooper.

The House Magazine, the publication which serves MPs and Peers – and de facto parliament’s inhouse magazine - was ABTA’s political media partner for the industry briefing Travel Matters on 3 June. Since then both partners have been working together to produce a dedicated travel and tourism supplement which will be sent to political representatives this week.

Gisela Stuart MP, The House Magazine editor said: “We are delighted to publish a supplement bringing together comment on the travel industry. In recent months, holidaymakers’ plans have been affected by environmental, industrial relations and taxation and insurance issues. This supplement treats these and other topics, and seeks to start a debate on a co-ordinated response by policymakers in an area that spans a number of government departments.”

Luke Pollard, ABTA’s Head of Public Affairs: “The first three months of any new government is critical for any organisation wishing to influence policy.  New MPs are keen to listen and learn and this supplement is yet another way of making sure travel and tourism’s voice is being heard.”
