ABTA says it’s not too late to grab a bargain and head for the sun

The Mediterranean basking in high temperatures and sunny weather

ABTA, The Travel Association is reminding consumers that although it looks like the great sunny weather we have seen in the UK this year is drawing to a close; it’s still summer in our favourite foreign holiday hotspots around the Mediterranean. In addition prices come down in September as the traditional summer holiday period around Europe is over and holidaymakers won’t now have to fight for their space on the beach or get up early to book their sun lounger.

This week temperatures around the Mediterranean are set to range from the mid-20s to the late 30s with virtually guaranteed sun. Next week most high average temperatures are set to go even higher. With temperatures in the UK cooling and the sun largely elusive, consumers looking to continue that feel good factor brought on by one of the best summers in years should look overseas.

ABTA, Head of Communications, Victoria Bacon said: “Summer 2013 will be remembered as one the hottest for years, but it isn’t over yet for those of us who are lucky enough to head off overseas. In the next week temperatures are set to soar around the Mediterranean with virtually guaranteed sunshine. September is also a great time to head to some of our favourite resorts and prices tend to be lower and it’s less crowded. This good weather generally lasts well into October and in some destinations right through the winter too.”
