ABTA concludes its “Look for the Logo” University tour

Over 100,000 students reached through tour

ABTA has concluded its two week University road show to educate students about the ABTA brand and the benefits of booking with an ABTA Member. The events, which were supported by social media activity, reached over 100,000 people on and offline.

During the two week road show, the ABTA stand attracted thousands of students at 7 campus universities (Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield, Warwick, Hertfordshire and Southampton), where they participated in activities and were able to speak to ABTA staff and Members: Tucan Travel, STA Travel, eufest, The Travel Bureau and 2wentys.

ABTA’s stand provided the ideal backdrop for discussing travel plans with students and exploring the benefits of booking with an ABTA Member. Students were also directed to ABTA’s Love Travel Facebook page and took part in fantastic holiday competitions provided by Members eufest and Tucan Travel.

The road show was part of ABTA’s broader “Look for the Logo” campaign, which aims to educate younger consumers about the benefits of booking with an ABTA Member and remind them to look for the logo when they book. Materials from the campaign were integral to the University events with “Why book with an ABTA Member” leaflets included in every giveaway and students encouraged to view the accompanying video.   The leaflet and video may be viewed online at www.abta.com/go-travel.

Victoria Bacon, Head of Communications ABTA said: “Our 2013 university tour has shown continued appetite among students for engaging with ABTA and its Members. The “Look for the Logo” campaign is all about broadening the visibility and understanding of ABTA and bringing to life the benefits we offer to consumers of all age groups.”

Jac McPherson, Sales & Offline Marketing Manager said : "With the launch of our Budget Expedition Asia tours designed for youth travellers, we have seen a substantial increase in student bookings during 2013, so the “Look for the Logo” road show allowed us to further promote our growing product. Working with ABTA also helps us assure our clients they can book with us in confidence –  knowing that ABTA members can be trusted to work with expertise, reliability & fairness."

Dermot O’Flynn, Director eufest said: “We had really good fun at the ABTA road show and our competition was a great way to get people involved and chatting. The timing of the events was also helpful for getting bookings for this season and most students were keen to chat about festivals!”
