I’m going into hospital and need to cancel my holiday, will I be charged?

For holidays booked before 1 July

If this is included in the company’s booking conditions, then yes, you will be charged. This is because, when you made the booking you would have agreed to the terms and conditions which allow the company to charge a cancellation fee.

The charges are determined by the amount of notice you give the company of your cancellation.

If you have travel insurance you should check the policy to see if you can make a claim for cancellation.

For holiday bookings after 1 July

You can cancel your package holiday at any time before you go away – you will be expected to pay a cancellation fee, the amount you pay is likely to vary depending on when you cancel, details of this will be in your booking conditions.

Any refunds due must be made no later than 14 days after the cancellation of a package.

If you've booked your travel arrangements separately, or have a linked travel arrangement, and want to cancel you will be subject to the individual companies’ terms and conditions.
