A hurricane is heading our way while on holiday. What should our travel rep be doing to prepare?

If your travel rep has advanced knowledge, they will do all that is reasonably possible to make alternative contingency plans.

More difficult problems arise when the travel company cannot forecast its effect. Travel companies are guided by the advice given by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and they will make any arrangements deemed necessary whether this is to move you to an alternative hotel or resort, or indeed island or country.

Top tip
Check you have contact details for the resort representative, and where there isn’t one provided ensure you’ve got the telephone number for the local office should an emergency situation arise.
