Why join the ABTA Community as an Associate Partner – This group of Partners forms a critical part of a consumer’s travel journey and depends solely on tourism. ABTA benefits from solid relationships with Associate Partners to help provide key information to support member operations and associated delivery of travel arrangements and holidays to their customers.
While Associate Partners can use the partnership to communicate their trade messages with the support of the ABTA Partnership team, there is also a strong motive to be connected with ABTA to access operational and crisis information from our Destinations team and to provide support to the team at the time of a crisis or operational event to help support ABTA members and their customers. The types of businesses that can join as associates are tourist boards, airlines, and airports.

The Visit Portugal Partnership with ABTA goes way back, but undoubtedly one for many years to come. We have always found in ABTA trusted guidance, deep market knowledge and a vision for the future, which has provided us, as a Partner, with invaluable insights. Working with ABTA has provided us with a powerful channel to pass our messages across the UK travel trade industry.
My experience collaborating with ABTA in crisis support proved to be invaluable. Their rapid response to the wildfires in Greece, and the repatriation of British travellers, demonstrated their professionalism.
Though we hope to avoid such situations in the future, the looming threat of climate change implies that these challenges may become more frequent. Therefore, having the right partners and their timely support is paramount.
