ABTA statement on Hurricane Harvey

We are closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Harvey, which made landfall in Texas as a category 4 storm, battering coastal areas and bringing down trees. While Harvey is bringing strong winds, the biggest threats to Texas are rainfall and the storm surge. Parts of Texas are experiencing a storm surge 2.5ft above normal. Parts of southwest Louisiana may also be affected by Harvey in the next 48 hours.

ABTA advises that people on holiday in the region should monitor news reports and follow the advice from local authorities or their accommodation providers.

Anyone due to travel to the region imminently should check with their travel provider or airline to establish if their holiday or flight is affected.
