The Future Travel Coalition is a cross-industry group of associations, trade bodies and consortiums which represent a large proportion of the UK organised travel market, including leisure and business travel, inbound and outbound operations.

The group is working together on shared lobbying priorities to amplify and align the industry’s voice where there are common goals.

The Coalition’s current priorities are:

  • Demonstrating the value of international travel to politicians (MPs, MSPs, AMs and MLAs), the UK Government and devolved administrations, as well as other industry stakeholders.
  • Advocating for measures to help businesses through the cost-of-living crisis including:
    • energy support for the industry beyond the next six months;
    • extension of business rates support (England), and calls for similar support elsewhere;
    • support with debt levels across the industry (through HMT and British Business Bank);
    • freezing Air Passenger Duty (APD) for remainder of parliamentary term.
  • Promoting the industry as an attractive place to work (helping retention and recruitment).
  • Winter resilience planning around COVID-19.

An important part of the work of FTC is to advocate a four-nations approach to policy decisions and industry support, with members of the coalition engaging with the UK Government and devolved administrations in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

The list of priorities are areas where the Coalition has agreed joint priorities. Each organisation may have other areas of focus beyond this, for example, some of the group continue to lobby the Government on issues around UK operations in Europe now that the UK is no longer in the European Union. The Future Travel Coalition offers a forum to provide updates on these other areas of activity.
