Advice for customers about the wildfire in Corfu

Last updated - 1 August 2023 at 18:30

There have been lots of media reports regarding the wildfires in Corfu and Rhodes in Greece.

Corfu is a very large island and the wildfire situation there was quite different to Rhodes in terms of its impact on holidaymakers already on the island and those due to travel.

The number of people affected was significantly smaller than Rhodes.

The evacuation orders that were in place in the northeast of the island of Corfu were all lifted by 12 noon 27 July and customers and local people, who had been evacuated were permitted to return to their properties.

Unfortunately, a small number of villas were damaged in the Loutses area so travel providers moved those customers impacted to alternative properties to continue their holidays.

Beyond these properties, hotels and resorts are open and providing holiday services.

The health and safety of customers on holiday in the region is the number one priority and ABTA members are in close contact with their customers and the Greek authorities regarding any relevant updates..
