Plastic-reduction measures with water refill stations

Fred. Olsen – encouraging guests to refill onboard

Fred. Olsen was the first cruise line to support the environmental organisation City to Sea’s Refill Campaign. The campaign encourages guests to bring refillable water bottles on holiday to cut back on plastic bottle waste. To make it as easy as possible for guests, Fred. Olsen installed free water stations across its fleet. Guests are encouraged to bring reusable coffee cups for takeaways, whilst drinks consumed within the café, bar and restaurant areas will be served in proper cups, mugs and glasses. In guest rooms, plastic water bottles have been replaced with glass carafes that are replenished daily.

Other plastic-reduction efforts include removing single-use tea and coffee cups and plastic cutlery, replacing plastic laundry bags with linen ones, reducing the use of cling films, using ropes to secure items in rough seas, and replacing plastic pens with wooden pencils.
