I’m unable to get to the airport to catch my flight – where do I stand?

You must make every effort to get to the airport to catch your flight. If there are adverse weather conditions, and your flight is not cancelled, you should allow extra time for travelling to the airport.

If you don’t arrive in time for your flight, the airline and your travel company aren’t obliged to provide you with an alternative flight. They may be able to help you re-book.

If you are unavoidably delayed due to problems with public transport or the roads, you may be able to claim under your travel insurance.

ABTA advice
Leave plenty of time to get to the airport on time. If adverse weather is predicted and your flight is scheduled to leave early in the morning you may wish to consider spending the night at a local hotel.

If you are delayed due to problems with public transport, get proof of the delay to help with your insurance claim.

Always ensure that you take out suitable travel insurance at the time of booking.
