Event details

The past 20 months have tested the efficacy of the regulation governing the travel industry to its maximum. This new hybrid conference is a chance for ABTA Members and the wider industry to take stock. Explore the practical lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic, what the travel industry can expect from the major regulations going forward, and what this could mean for your business.

Attend this hybrid conference with industry peers in-person in central London, or join virtually where the live content will be streamed through a custom platform. Both audiences will be able to submit questions live to our expert speakers.

About the event

ABTA’s practical one-day conference will consider the impact that industry regulations have on your businesses model. Ahead of the sales period in January 2022 and as travel reopens, this is the chance to question the experts and raise any issues you are facing and to address common challenges relating to the implementation of travel regulation.

With the ATOL reform consultation underway, hear from industry experts and discuss with peers what the future of financial protection could hold for travel businesses. Learn what you can be doing now to prepare for possible changes and the practicalities of doing so.

Consider the impacts of FCDO and other advice on the PTRs. Get practical advice from travel legal experts on topics including chargebacks, supplier risk management, refunds and cancellations and customer information obligations. Hear views on future changes to the insurance industry including COVID exclusions and what that means for tour operators going forward.

Get an update on the recent case law impacting tour operator liabilities including X v Kuoni and get practical guidance on the impact for your businesses going forward.

Listen to an update on the current travel sector specific action from the advertising regulators. As travel businesses look to promote confidence in customers and encourage bookings, understand the implications of flexibility promises in your campaigns and get your questions answered on advertising practices

Hear directly from the regulators as well as getting practical guidance from industry experts.

Deloitte Legal combines market-leading lawyers, consultants and technology experts to provide clients with new solutions to legal problems. Whether that be legal advice delivered in a more effective way, assistance in harnessing the considerable benefits created by advancements in legal technology, or advice on how to create a best-in-class in-house legal function, we have the breadth and depth of expertise to advise on the challenges that our clients face.

Mishcon de Reya is an independent law firm, which now employs more than 1,000 people with over 600 lawyers offering a wide range of legal services to companies and individuals. Based in London and Singapore, the firm services an international community of clients and provides advice in situations where the constraints of geography often do not apply. The work we undertake is cross-border, multi-jurisdictional and complex, spanning six core practice areas: Corporate; Dispute Resolution; Employment; Innovation; Private; and Real Estate. In times of such far-reaching and profound change we want to be the law firm that enables our clients – and our own people – to shape the world’s possibilities. We are here to help our clients benefit from new economies, new geographic centres of wealth, the new global movement of people and capital, and the impact of new technologies and new knowledge.

Our purpose remains rooted in our founding values. We have always been driven by an entrepreneurial, tenacious and socially conscious spirit: one that has always embraced change in order to stay relevant and shape the future.

We appreciate that business has never been so personal.

ABTA Partner+ Travlaw Legal Services Limited are 100% committed to serving the travel and leisure industry – from tour operators and travel agents to airlines, hotel groups, event management companies and their insurers. We pride ourselves on being one of the top travel law firms in the UK. We are a large, experienced team of highly professional yet approachable lawyers who are tried and tested specialists in advising.

For over 12 years, we’ve been supporting travel businesses with pragmatic solutions to a range of complex regulatory, finance and strategic problems. We help them manage regulatory and bonding issues with ATOL, ABTA and IATA. We also help model and monitor their finances, develop business plans, raise money, and find investors. Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, we've been providing our clients with up-to-the-minute guidance and recommendations for common issues arising around cash flow management and regulatory responsibilities. We have also supported them through several successful CBILS and furlough processes since those schemes were launched and have helped them manage their relationships with regulators, merchant acquirers, insurers and other stakeholders. We are assisting with their future planning by advising on a range of other areas, including insurance, bonding, trust accounts, M&A and complex regulatory and financial issues. If you would like to get in touch, please drop us an email at info@thettc.co.uk, and we'd be happy to arrange a chat.
