Event details

This event is going ahead as planned.

We recognise that the situation around Coronavirus is evolving. In line with the advice that we are providing to the travelling public, we are following factual advice from public health officials and the FCO in making our plans. If the situation changes, we will notify you immediately by email.  Hand washing facilities and free antibacterial gel are available at venues. If you are feeling unwell or have visited an area to which the FCO is advising against travel in the past two weeks, we would request that you contact us immediately events@abta.co.uk.

About the event

Viewing or interacting with animals is popular with holidaymakers, but they want to be assured of good animal welfare standards. In ABTA’s latest Holiday Habits research two-thirds (66%) of people said that they have concerns about the wider impacts of tourism and how animals are treated.

Your approach to animal welfare will help you to attract new customers, reduce complaints and avoid costly reputational damage.

At this popular one-day seminar, get the latest practical guidance on key issues including animals in captive environments, wildlife viewing and working animals. Get an update on basic welfare requirements and unacceptable practices.

Understand how you can improve your services and products to ensure that you safeguard the welfare of the animals themselves, meet customer expectations and protect your business' reputation.

Through practical sessions and workshops, learn how to audit, manage and work with suppliers effectively, minimise risk and find credible alternatives. Hear industry case studies on how small and large travel businesses have addressed animal welfare concerns.

Sessions

  • ABTA's revised Animal Welfare Guidelines – what’s changed?
  • How and where to begin when addressing animal welfare concerns within your travel business
  • Auditing and supplier management – working with suppliers to improve animal welfare
  • How to embed animal welfare awareness into all functions within your organisation
  • Working with and responding to NGOs
  • The business benefits of developing an animal welfare approach
  • How to market and communicate products relating to animals

This has been a fascinating event - the best networking event I've been to. There was plenty of time to speak to different people and make connections. It was great to hear about different case studies and for it to be more interactive than a conference.
