Terms and conditions: What holiday escape do you need in 2023? competition

Here are the conditions of entry which apply to ABTA’s prize draw. Please read them carefully, as they contain important information you should know.

Who’s running the competition?
The promoter is ABTA Ltd (551311) of 30 Park Street, London, SE1 9EQ, United Kingdom.

Information about the prize and how to enter form part of these conditions of entry. Participation in this competition constitutes acceptance of these conditions of entry. These conditions of entry may change from time to time without notice.

Entries must be posted between 12:00 on Monday 9 January and 23:59 on Friday 3 March 2022. A winner/winners will be contacted by Friday 10 January.

The competition is hosted on www.abta.com.

These conditions of entry are governed by the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh Courts.

Can I enter?
This prize draw is open to entrants over 18 years of age in UK only. You won’t be eligible to take part if you, your immediate family (including parents, children, siblings, partner and grandparents) or housemates are directors, managers, employees, officers or contractors of ABTA Ltd or its subsidiaries or affiliated companies. 

What is the prize and how do I enter?
Entry is free, you don’t have to buy anything to enter or win.
 
Take the ‘What holiday escape do you need in 2023? quiz. After taking the quiz, you will be asked to share your contact details to enter the prize draw to win the first prize – a John Lewis voucher worth £250.

If you share the competition on Twitter or Facebook, you will be entered into another prize draw to win a second prize – an Amazon voucher worth £50. To enter the second prize draw, entrants can use the suggested social media posts given below:

Twitter:
The #ABTAHolidayQuiz just told me what type of holiday escape would best suit me. I’m looking to book with an ABTA Member to #TravelWithConfidence in 2023. Enter their prize draw and you win up to a total of £300 in shopping vouchers. https://www.abta.com/win

Facebook:

We will hold your name and submission until the end of the competition so we can pick and contact both winners via email. 

How do we pick the winner?
We will be selecting both winners at random from entrants who shared their details after taking the quiz. The random selection is final, and no discussions will be entered into with any other persons.

ABTA reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who has engaged in unlawful or improper conduct that is designed to jeopardise the fair conduct of the competition or is generally damaging to the reputation of ABTA, or has otherwise breached these conditions of entry (as determined by ABTA in its sole discretion). 

ABTA can cancel or modify the prize draw if there are compelling technical or administrative reasons which we cannot control. If that happens, ABTA may select the winner(s) from all eligible entries received at that time.
 

What can I win?
One lucky person will win £250 worth of John Lewis vouchers for entering their contact details after completing the quiz. A second winner will win £50 Amazon voucher for sharing the competition on social media channels – Facebook and Twitter – and tagging ABTA. If you are very lucky, your name could be selected twice and you could win both of the £250 and £50 prizes!

If you do win …
You can’t exchange the prize for cash or ask us to give it to someone else. 

We will use reasonable efforts to award the prize as described but if we are unable to do that, we may substitute it either for cash or another prize of comparable value, but we’ll decide which.

You are responsible for your use of the prize, including complying with any applicable terms and conditions of use. 

Events may occur that render the competition itself, or the awarding of the prize, impossible due to reasons beyond the control of ABTA. Accordingly, ABTA may, in its absolute discretion, vary or amend the prize draw and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to ABTA as a result.

To the extent permitted by law, ABTA expressly excludes:             

• all conditions, warranties and other terms which might otherwise be implied by statute, common law or the law of equity;
• any liability for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage incurred by any entrant or winner in connection with this prize draw.

Entrants can share the quiz to Facebook and Twitter to try and win the second prize. However, the competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook or Twitter.

If entrants share the competition on Facebook and Twitter, they must not share posts or photos that go against Twitter’s Rules or Facebook’s Community Standards and ABTA will not accept entries which post pictures or captions that include nudity or posts that share offensive language or behaviour.

Entrants may wish to share the competition on Instagram, but their post will not be counted as an entry to this competition. Their posts must follow Instagram Community Guidelines.
