Date published: 31 January 2008

The Maspalomas Conference Centre in Gran Canaria will be the venue for the 2008 Travel Convention, which will be held between Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9 October 2008.

"The Maspalomas Conference Centre provides us with another stunning business setting which is perfect for the UK's premier travel event of the year," said Mark Tanzer, ABTA Chief Executive.

Chosen hotels are within walking distance or a five minute coach ride from the Convention Centre and 20 minutes from the airport and the Gran Canaria Tourist Board are providing 200 free hotel rooms for travel agent delegates.

Delegates can fly out to Gran Canaria on either 4, 5 or 6 October, and in addition to scheduled flights, special charters will be provided for returning delegates on 9 October.

Mr. Roberto Moreno Diaz President of the Gran Canaria Tourism Board said: "Gran Canaria is very much looking forward to hosting the Travel Convention in 2008 as we believe it is an excellent opportunity to present our destination to the best of the UK travel industry. We hope they will be impressed by the improvements we have made and become excellent ambassadors for the island."
