Child Protection Seminar

Date published: 31 January 2008

An invite-only focus group on child protection within the UK travel industry, which follows up from initial discussions last November, will be held on Thursday 28 February at ABTA, 68-71 Newman Street, London.

Speakers from ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and the Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes), NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children), CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) and the Police Child Protection Unit will lead discussions with representatives from the travel industry on how to implement reporting procedures and manage child protection issues.

The group will also discuss procedures the industry can adopt to report on child protection issues effecting children from host destinations.

Susan Lamb, ABTA's Member Operational Support Manager said: "We really hope that this working party can agree some specific actions and good practice guidelines that can be recommended to the industry."
